The After Hours: Office Predators [0.2.2]

Hello there, our awesome furries and furry enjoyers!

Can’t believe I’m writing this, but it's finally here: The After Hours: Office Predators [0.2.2] Update is out! Hope you’ve been looking forward to it as much as we have!

Major Updates:

  • New girl! Misty, a mysterious merchant cat girl, has set up her shop right in the dream realm. You can buy all sorts of wares from her, including exclusive stuff, and our Patrons already have access to a new H-Scene with her!
  • Mob sex! Our longest-teased feature is out! Seahorse girls, Orca girls, (and many more mob girls in the future realms) can now be seduced and laid for health and gems! There's also a dedicated skill tree to gain and improve your seductive abilities.
  • Portals! Hope you like them because this is how you navigate the dream realm from now on! Choose the rewards you want (yes, those aren’t just boons now), or even drop by Misty's if you have a few gems to spare! We've also added more rooms to the game.

Freebies:

  • The scene unlocked by winning against Lady Fin is now free for everyone! In turn, our Patrons are getting a new exclusive Misty scene!

Visuals:

  • More room decorations! We'll continue redesigning our levels in upcoming updates, too.
  • A significant visual novel overhaul! That said, we will keep working on our VN engine in future updates.
  • We've made several fixes to the Lady Fin victory scene. We are constantly working on improving our H-Scene quality.
  • Improved the shaders and lighting.

Gameplay:

  • Lady Fin has received a major remake! However, she is still fairly easy to beat and will be tweaked further in the future.
  • We've also significantly tweaked the general enemy AI!
  • Minnow now has his very own sales commission in addition to his salary! And Fin can even be convinced to raise it!
  • Rerolls! Finally, you can reroll the boons you don’t like. However, for that, you'll need magic dice and I wonder who could give you those…
  • Dash now has I-frames. (This means you are briefly invulnerable to attacks while dashing).

QoL:

  • Tutorials! Yes, we’ve added a tutorial system to the game. Don’t worry, they won't be intrusive.
  • Refined the mobile layout once again.
  • Numerous small UI enhancements across the game.
  • Added an FPS cap.
  • Fixed the issue that prevented people from copying their save code from WebGL.
  • Implemented a better fullscreen solution for WebGL.
  • Added tips to the loading screen to sweeten the pill.

Many more minor things have been fixed and added, but putting them here would inflate the patch notes too much, so download the game and see them for yourself!

Some feedback

I noticed the character gets animation locked on the third attack, which makes you unable to dash to dodge while also dashing into the enemy due to the animation. It's probably the reason why I take the most damage on the Ms Fin bossfight. The best combo right now is N1 walk/dash or N2 walk/dash. would it be possible to let us dash on the third attack?

Other thing I noticed, the buff you get from completing the story is a "pay raise", from 2% to 3% (iirc), which seems to increase money acquired based on gems at the end of a run. I know the game is only on version 0.2.2 and we only have so many gem rooms and story quests, but only getting 9 dollars extra for finishing with 300 gems feels a little too few.

If we started with 5% and upgraded to ~10%(after shrimpie) to ~15-20%(after fin) it would feel impactful to hold off on spending and trying your best with less ingame upgrades to buy permanent upgrades.

Maybe an 'Investment' upgrade tab could be created in the future for money/gem/currency related aspects? like shop price reduction, better interest on gems kept, free rerolls? usage of money outside of upgrades?

For feedback, I'd like to say I like the new Mob "Interactions" but I think it is too short and it happens a bit too often since you can trigger it on any mobgirl. After you do it for a while it gets a bit repetitive and I feel kinda unrewarded by it.

I think an interesting change is that you could disable Mob H Interaction with every mob and create elite/miniboss versions of the mob enemies, which would allow for: 1. better fights because of more HP, 2: better rewards like gem or item drops since there would be less of them, 3. you wouldn't have to try to fuck every mob girl in every floor to play "optimally" for resources, which breaks gameplay flow imo, 4. you could give more time for these H Mob interactions if people want more time to enjoy them, since we would only interact with the elites/minibosses.

Feedback regarding the finish on Boss fights. When you kill them the music playing is still the very hype, banger combat song. I'd suggest leaving the dialog with a slow fadeout from the combat music to no music or to a chill dialog song, just so you don't go from the hype vibe straight to the sex song.

Still on boss fights, ending the Boss H scene puts you straight to the next stage, and if you been enjoying yourself and playing with one hand... you may end up ending the scene prematurely and having to lock in earlier than you'd probably want. I'd recommend to just make the player stay on the Boss Stage and make a portal to the next area, so they can go whenever they feel like it. (you could also create dialogue with the bosses if you feel like it?)

I also have a bug report, on the Windows version, if you click on the Reroll button with no Dice, it doesn't reroll. But, if you click on the Dice icon instead, it does reroll with 0 cost. Unsure if this is intended for now just to make life and/or testing the game easier.

Would be interesting to have a bug report/feedback feature ingame in the near future too.

Dont like your Mob H Interaction idea one bit. Being able to do it with only with few  mob destroys the point of "mob h interaction".

sure. I dislike it right now because I can't enjoy the interaction since it's too short, unrewarding (getting 4 gems and 4hp per perfect interation doesn't mean much if you play well) and after doing it over 100 times, it's boring (to me) since each takes just about 3s. you can't really prolong the interactions yourself since stamina ends if you keep missing the spot. I'd prefer if we had more time to enjoy the interactions, instead of only being able to thoroughly enjoy the boss ones.

and if it took much more time than 3-5s it would disrupt gameplay flow even more every time you want to enjoy a mobgirl event, since there would be many on each floor/room. It would also make the main gameplay loop of the game be just fucking the mobgirls instead of the roguelite experience, which is why I suggested a change to the amount of interactions.

Im not asking for much but. In Mobile Everytime i dash the game crashes and becomes unresponsive.

This made it harder for me to defeat Ms. Dole Fin in the early game because of her kick with a large Aoe, it was until i had slightly more upgrades i was able to beat her.

If you see this, can you fix it please?

Doesn't happen to me, im on mobile too

I forgot to update the comment that it somehow and sometimes does not crash i have no frickin idea tbh. After getting a hang of not using dash its not actually pretty hard because i am now used to the enemy Ai and upgrades, though not being able to use dash is kinda sucks man because i am missing out on a gameplay feature and would have made for easier early-gameplay because her kick has a gigantic aoe attack.

Ms. Dole fin is the reason i endured. Her h-scenes are my favourites even though there are only 2 h-scenes and i can just go directly to the gallery and just enjoy, but i still wanna grind for max upgrades

The mob sex implementation is interesting. I would do it in another way, like having an energy meter that builds over time and using some of the meter lets you finish an enemy immediatly but thats just personal preference.

But i think you should be able to end the animation on your own term, not when you lose/win the minigame. It barely takes 3-4seconds.
